Summary: Faulty equipment & bad customer service
Comment: Unfortunately, I have had a bad experience with this product. The device is wonderfully easy to use, but within 2 weeks (despite very careful treatment) it inexplicably stopped working. I wrote to puredigital/flip support centre with a very detailed description of the problem and got a set of troubleshooting steps sent back that had nothing to do with my problem - as if they hadn't bothered to read it properly. Since then I have been writing asking for more help but received no reply. Meanwhile, I have stumbled across COUNTLESS forum threads online that have expressed similar issues with faulty equipment and dodgy customer service.
Order at your own risk - the warranty only lasts 90 days!

Summary: Easy Use and Great Regular Image
Comment: Bought this because it's easy to use and transfer to computer and post. Great image in regular view, but lacks the same in zoom. Apparently the zoom is not physical but electronic so the closer you go (and not much range) the worse the image. However, I do keep this thing in my pocket pretty much all the time and I am constantly videoing everything! Uploads are extremely easy and the software is very good.

Summary: For the price - Not as good as the reviews suggest
Comment: I bought this item last week based on the all the reviews I had seen. It was going to replace by 4 year old miniDV Sony camcorder. The product said it captures HD quality, so I thought it should be good.
- Its handy and easy to carry. But, I would think if they got rid of the AA batteries, they could make it more thinner. It feels like a little bulky to be honest.
- There is no optical lense. Its a digital CMOS sensor (like the ones you see on cell phones. The quality is therefore very poor. Very grainy images.
- I am surprised they claim its HD quality because I see a lot of noise in the image
I work in the cell phone industry and I know what it takes to make these things. The quality of video is equal or worser than what you would get for example on the iPhone 3GS, which now captures video as well. In the next few months, you will see most phones being able to that capture video and also HD quality video. The Motorola Droid is one.
For the $150 price tag, this product is not worth it. Get your next smart phone and it will have the same video quality as this product. That way yuo don't have to carry two devices, just carry your phone and it shuold be good enough.
For good quality pictures/videos, invest another $200 and get a camcorder with optical lenses. Makes a big differences.
I am just printing out the return label. This one is going back to AMazon.

Summary: Wonderful Portable Camera
Comment: I have not owned a video camera in 10 years, they sure have changed. I hated to carry a bulky camera around. Well now I can carry a camera in jacket where ever I go. Truly wonderful. The picture is superb. Highly recommend it, except for the software, I would use a 3rd party software like iMovie, etc...

Summary: Terrible Experience with UltraHD
Comment: My first time having such a bad experience with a product that is otherwise so popular.
I got a brand new UltraHD and immediately wanted to test it out with some test videos. Loaded the battery-pack and was up and running on capturing video's immediately. Connected the Camcorder to my laptop running Windows XP Professional via the USB interface, the software installed and was able to upload the video to Youtube. So far so good. The video quality was really nice. However, when I disconnected UltraHD from my ldaptop, it just wouldn't power-on. I took the batter-pack out and again connected it to the laptop to make sure there wasn't a problem with the unit. Same thing happened again. I Googled for the issue and to my surprise, many folks had faced the same problem.
Next day, I contacted the customer support and they gave me 5 steps to follow and promised the issue will be resolved. However, it still didn't work and that's when I decided to return the product.
I was really hoping to use flipUltraHD but was completely disappointed by the quality of the product.
