Summary: Not a True Racer
Comment: There is no car damage, lack of customization, not enough cars. Graphics are great, but could have used more polish.

Summary: Gran Turismo travel version!
Comment: Gran Turismo has been one of my favorite all-time racing game and this version for the psp portal is no exception. Lets get to the reviews. The game has all the tracks from the previous GT versions so there's no worrying about having to race on a few tracks that can get boring after awhile. The graphics is fantastic! Music is ok - good music would definitely increase the fun factor of highspeed racing. The game offers more challenges on the tracks to build up your driving skills and many trophies to win.

The game starts out with a generous 100k in your account to buy your racing car and start racing. There are just about every cars you can think of in GT,however, you are limited to just four kind of "make" vehicles you can choose from depending on the day or number of races you have won. For instance, today on my psp when I go to the dealerships I can choose to buy from Bugatti, Ferrari, Nissan, and Acura, since I race Super Class with the Honda (Acura) NSX LM car, the dealership will change car companies every 2 or 3 wins I completed. And if I don't race much, the dealerships will change after 1 - 3 days. I usually race 5 laps. You don't really know when the next car dealership will come around once it is gone, but it will come. This really shouldn't make it less enjoyable because "real" GT racers need to build the cash from wins, learn how to drive their cars effectively, and eventually you will have every cars you wanted thats in the game. There is no career mode and no fixing-up cars such as engine/springs/coils/exhaust/etc performance upgrade. This doesn't stop the fun factor because the GT for the psp is considered as "on-the-go" where you focus more on the racing and enhancing your skills of driving than worrying about the 5 extra hp you will gain from a spoon exhaust.

The loading time is a discouragement, but thats because the game is jam pack with graphics, driving physics, and numerous tracks. Why is the loading time so slow? Well, if I am correct - the fat psp has only 32MB of ram and the new slim psp has 64mb of ram; this is not nearly enough fast memory for a game like GT. PSP needs atleast 512mb of fast ram and an improved UMB disc drive. The game does provide the option to store GT on your memory stick which cuts down the waiting time to 45% - 55%. Overall, this game is awesome and "real" GT players shouldn't care about anything else than racing and improving on the cars that they race in.

Summary: Don't Bother.
Comment: It's not as fun as it used to be. You can't mod the cars. There really isn't a course for licenses. When you race, there's only 4 player total allowed. It's really a weak game. I believe they meant it to be weak cuz you're suppose to link it with the PS3 Gran Turismo later and use those cars...but they're so easy to achieve so what's the point?

Summary: For on the go
Comment: I am a huge fan of Gran Turismo. I was somewhat disappointed at first because I expected it to be like the actual PS2 versions. Some of the features have been taken away and it is much easier to earn credits. Therefore after a while the game becomes a car collecting game instead of a racing game. But GT still maintains its reputation as the ultimate driving simulation because the physics are still realistic. My conclusion is that i am happy that i can now play my favorite game anywhere on my psp, but the actual PS2 version out does the PSP version by far. Still worth the money.

Summary: Good but no career mode
Comment: I have to agree with other reviewers. The career mode in the Gran Turismo series was what made it a top game.

The PSP version doesn't have it but you know what? It's still pretty entertaining. The driving challenges are good, not as challenging as when you first played GT but you still feel good when you get the bronze cup.

Unlike its big brothers, the game has a huge selection of tracks. As a matter of fact, it borrows tracks from all the games in the series. Among them, Nürburgring Nordschleife and Côte d'Azur, my two favorite tracks. You will have to win the driving challenges before being able to use your own mp3s though. Not a big deal. It took me 15 minutes for that.

Graphically speak, the tracks are very well modeled and the cars physics are good, still no crash damage as before.

Compared to other racing games for the PSP like Test Drive and NFS Most Wanted, GT is more fun by far.

Do I recommend it? Yes, but don't expect this to be a full Gran Turismo port. The great career mode is gone and that's a shame.
