2009 release from this Grammy-nominated platinum-selling outfit led by singer/songwriter John Ondrasik. Five For Fighting has sold over 2.5 million albums. The band performed the album's title track at the 40th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, honoring Grammy and Academy Award winning composer Steven Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) who co-wrote the track. 11 tracks including the first single 'Chances'.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD for your car during the drive back home Comment: If you are looking for a CD to have on multiple plays in the car, then this is the CD. I just loved the single on the radio, "Chances", which only gets played a couple of times on WXPN and 104.5 in Philly. If you get this CD, then you can listen it more than just once and pick the lyrics apart. Also, "Slice" and "Story of Your Life" are my new favorites on this album. It relaxes me on the ride back from work and it's soothing when you are during lunch break or heading to dentist appointment. I wasn't able to catch them live at the World Cafe here in Philly but you can check their website for show listings. Also, check out their music video for "Chances" which is pretty cool too. Added bonus is the album booklet with all song lyrics which is a rarity with more popular artists. I am extremely disappointed with the new Regina Spektor CD which is missing the booklet in its eco-friendly 100% recycled cardboard flimsy envelope. Come on you guys!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good, but weak compared to previous albums Comment: I'm a huge FFF fan, and I had high hopes for this album. "Message for Albert," "America Town," and ESPECIALLY "The Battle for Everything" are excellent albums. "The Battle.." is one of my all time favorites. I thought "Two Lights" was just okay, and was hoping FFF would again soar with "Slice." Unfortunately, we are given an overproduced, fluffy album that lacks the lyrical and melodic depth of John's early work. Slice and Chances are incredibly catchy, but that's about all they are. This Dance and Augie Nieto are also highlights, but just aren't enough. The rest of the tracks I skip.
If I hadn't heard FFF before, I would think the album was pretty good. But compared to previous albums, I'm only left disappointed because FFF has so much more potential. Unfortunately.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tremendous Comment: This album is tremendous. You know how some CDs have a couple of good songs but the rest are only okay or not so good? "Slice" is the rare album where each song is a quality song. Five For Fighting puts out some of the best pop-rock and piano ballads going, and this album shows why. Especially nice are the songs "Slice" and "Chances." Also, thanks to John Ondrasik for another great song honoring the American serviceman, "Note to an Unknown Soldier." In an era where artists increasingly trash American ideals its refreshing to see an artist that honors them. This is an awesome CD for fans of Five For Fighting and even those that are new to the sound. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worth every penny! Comment: Before I bought this album, more than one reviewer here (and on iTunes) have said that this may be the best FFF ever. I have to agree.
John Ondrasik is a genius with his thoughtful lyrics and beautiful melodies. My personal favorites are "This Dance" (what a love song!), "Note to the Unknown Soldier" (brings a tear to my eye), "Augie Nieto" (for the founder of Augie's Quest), and of course, "Chances" and "Slice." "Tuesday" is about 9/11 and the melancholy melody says it all for me. I also enjoy "Above the Timberline" so much. The rest of the album is really great, too.
I can't wait for the acoustic version of these awesome songs!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: It's that good Comment: This album is really that good, all 11 songs are easy on the ears, my favourite songs are "Slice", "Chances" & "This dance".
