Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Web Design with No Manual Provided Comment: I learnt how to write websites back in 1996 - over 13 years ago now. Some of my original efforts are still going strong - check out Le [...] - I still haven't figured out how to automate the date picker. I purchased FrontPage when it first came out - although never used FrontPage extensions (not a feature I could ever figure out), but over the years I built some reasonable sites which included JavaScript & PHP. When MS killed FrontPage in order to introduce 4 programmes to replace it, I bought Expression Web - it was OK - but still lacked the features a web programmer really needs. I skipped version 2.0 and bought the entire 3.0 Studio Suite. It's much improved - with integrated PHP for example. But when you're buying such a complex product - how come it doesn't come with a manual? The lack of available books to teach you 3.0 is frustrating for me. The online help & videos are difficult to follow and could be greatly improved. If you know how to programme HTML this programme does everything you need to get a fully featured website up and running. If you don't, I suggest you download the 60 day trial version and see how you get on with it. All design software has developed over the last 5 years and Expression is a catch up. It will improve over the coming years - and MS will make you pay for that development. I saved loads of cash purchasing off Amazon USA and having the product shipped to my US office - who forwarded the Authorisation code to me in the UK. Just a further example of the frankly weird, convoluted way MS communicates with their customers in 2009.
