This 400W hydroponics lighting system represents the best value grow light. Its advanced electronic ballast supports both High Pressure Sodium (HPS) and Metal Halide (MH) bulbs, giving the grower the flexibility to choose the best selection simply by changing the bulb, instead of having to own two separate light systems.MH is used for accelerated vegetative growth, then switch to HPS to encourage flowering, fruiting and budding

Customer Rating: Summary: Product did not work. Comment: When I received the light I tested both bulbs and all seemed good. Then about a month later I tried using and it only worked for about half an hour and when I discovered it was not working I checked another bulb and that did not work either, I guess the ballist is no good, because the outlet works for other appliances. It was after the month of warrenty and i am very dissappointed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Value Great Seller Comment: Bought one and had an initial issue with the MH bulb going off by itself. Contacted seller and within an hour he sent the RMA form - I returned ballast and he replaced it promptly. Great merchant and very easy to work with. As it turns out, I think the issue is common to MH bulbs needing a "burn in" period.
Since then no issues and both bulbs work perfectly.
I am not a "Pro" and see no need to spend 2x for the same thing. While not the highest quality, it's OK as my income does not depend on it - I'm a hobbyist gardner.
I highly recommend it. Matter of fact, I just bought another unit.
Customer Rating: Summary: great product for the price Comment: Considering the price of the product, it's decent.
The good: This is the cheapest full system setup you can get for $150.
The bad: The hangers work on a spring loaded tension type system, the problem I had was that one of the hangers pulled the hood up farther than the other one. So the level of the hood was off by like 45 degrees. I tried to adjust the tension but they were already at the lightest setting. So I had to lay a crescent wrench on one side to distribute the weight of the hood evenly. Also, the mh and hps bulbs are on the low quality side and produce quite a bit of heat and use a little bit more electricity than quality, more expensive bulbs. I have a small 2X4 grow tent and the temps reached up to 92 deg. I even had one fan blowing directly on it, and another oscillating with the tent completely open and temps were still unmanageable. So then I put two 265cfm squirrel cage fans in the tent, one for intake and one for exhaust, and still temps reached 88 deg.
The design flaw in this system: The hood. If you don't have an open space with adequate ventilation, then you might have to invest in a ported hood like I did. I had to get a 6" ported sunsystems hood and hook up a fan to it, now temps never get above 78 deg... perfect.
To recap- I'd recommend this product to anyone on a low budget. But beware, you'd better have an open, well ventilated space, or invest in some fans and a new hood if you want to manage temps. I WOULDN'T recommend this to anyone who plans to use this in a grow tent, unless you have some kickazz ventilation or unless you want to blast the AC. But it'd be more practical to buy a better system with a ported hood.
Well that's my 2 cents.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Value Comment: Remote ballast actually keeps a significant amount of heat away from the bulb/fixture. Both included bulbs are very decent quality/spectrum.
Customer Rating: Summary: corals are lovin it Comment: this product is not the best metal halide out there but i think it works great. corals are lovin it its a steal.
