Summary: LOUSY upgrade...LOUSY service...I wanted to give NO stars
Comment: DO NOT BUY....yet....The upgrade may have fancy new features but the old ones don't work...at alll.....glitchy...buggy...takes longer to print Statements. When I called Intuit to complain, they gave me "free" month of support. Which means I get to call and sit on hold for SIXTY to NINETY minutes before I can even speak to a human. If I new how to back my data out into 2009 format I would..

Summary: QB 2010 for MAC is finally a good MAC program
Comment: I tried the QB for MAC 2009 and returned it last year. I also bought the PC version and returned it. This year I have mostly been using my MAC so after seeing I could have a trial version 2010 I downloaded it and have used it for the last 30 days. (It also helped that one of the QB for MAC design engineers has been so responsive to these posts.)
It is really good. This version has the most MAC interface ever and I had no problem converting my 2004 QB from my PC to my MAC. How about that!!!

I think the "help" index and "search" engine could use a lot of help, however. Lots of search words don't even come up. As an example I typed up "Align Checks, I get Printing, Trouble shooting, nowhere is align checks even come up. But there is a tool for it. There is a wonderful tool in the print checks menu, but it does not work on mine ???? To even find it you have actually have a check to print. When you print the check that final step is where all the options are on setting up the actual printing. Weird. (W.Lynes, how about under preferences, print set-up option?) AT least put more info in the index.

Lets face it there are always glitches in every new software. I think this is worth purchasing and intuit is finally making a good MAC product. (with so many converting how could they not?) I think it does the job and is very easy to use. Another great option is having your memorized transactions synced with ical, I love the idea of this feature....I actually have had to do an excell sheet to keep track of all my memorized transations and this could replace it. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to get it to work. I did not find the solution in the help menu. I will go online maybe it is there.

I have been using QB products since 1995 and for the most part have been satisfied. I actually like this one better that the PC version. I know I have posted the problems but I am really happy with this one.

Summary: QB Mac 2010 cannot custom format checks
Comment: I just purchased QB Mac 2010 and converted my QB Windows file over to it. The conversion went well but I was stunned to discover that I could not custom format the check printing output to fit my preprinted bank checks. Doing this on QB Windows, is a snap. With QB Mac I assumed that I simply could not find the correct menu so I called QB support and got through relatively easily(overseas help connection). They confirmed that QB Mac could not be customized for this BUT they promised that this issue was being addressed and that a patch was due out in a couple of weeks. I am skeptical. Right now my only option is to write checks by hand or thow away all my preprinted checks and buy more from Intuit (do we think they would be discounted at all?) that happen to match the peculiar formatting(payee and numbered amt are vertically staggered apart by one line, with the written amt on yet a third line! Not very standard; and by design it would seem) that is already locked in to the software. I find it staggering that Intuit would assume that everyone wants to buy preprinted checks from Intuit or otherwise would write their checks out by hand. This is a business software, correct?!

Summary: I didn't think that Quicken for Mac could get worse... I was wrong!
Comment: I replaced Quickbooks for Mac with Quickbooks for Mac 2010. What a mistake. I imported my lists. I ended up with hundreds of duplications. It crashes between 20 and 30 times each day... little rainbow spinning circle for HOURS! I have to keep force quitting and then it reopens without any password requirements. Most of the time when you type in notes on the client note pad, as soon as you save the sales receipt and eventually FIND the sales receipt again, ALL of the notes are gone! The sales receipts don't save sequentially. In fact, I can't figure out what method of saving it DOES use! When you save a sales receipt, if you want to go back to the previous invoice, you must click "previous" over and over until you find the sales receipt. This could be in the dozens or in the hundreds. I feel amazingly stupid to have spend money to replace a really bad program with a really horrible program.

I guess I could sit on hold for hours to get help from that weird little Indian guy for $4.99 per minute, but it seems stupid to me to get ripped off by their horrible programmers and to then get ripped off again by some idiot who doesn't even know how the program works to ask insulting questions like "Sir, did you install the disk shiny side down?". I've used Quickbooks for TWO decades now, yes, I installed the disk shiny side down. But it doesn't really matter because the program doesn't work any better than if I had installed it shiny side up!

So, finally... I quit. I am now shopping for a point of sale program that works with MAC, that actually works, and I'm done pounding money into the Quickbooks hole in my desk!

This is the worst program that I have ever used, on any computer, with any operating system, by any company that I've been unfortunate enough to have been ripped off by!

What a strange way to treat a TWO decade loyal customer?????

Summary: What QB did not disclose.
Comment: I converted from a PC I was running 2006 on and they would not support. They suggested that I purchase 2008 or more recent to step the data to 2010. Thank goodness for my accountant's book keeper who ran the data onto to her 2008 version and then we could install the data from my 8 years of business and start it up. I still have no payroll data and will be forced to subscribe for the web based subscription until I can figure this headache out. For us much money the make.....I would like more information up front before my time is consumed by crisis oriented problem solving that they caused. I really do not need any more of this as as small business owner. I will probably look at another book-keeping solution when I recover and have time.
