Customer Rating: Summary: Read these reviews, then forget Acronis Comment: I'll keep it short. (System: XP-Pro, SP-3) I installed the 2010 trial download, and in the process of initialization, it stopped and gave me an error message about how it could not initialize. OK, I tried it several more times, once even with a fresh download. Same thing each time. OK, so I'm not about to trust my BACKUPS to a program that will not even work in the trial version, so I go into Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs" and there's no Acronis listed. So good, I think, maybe this creepy thing has not yet even gotten into the Registry and I can simply delete the folder full of junk that had already been installed. But first, I went on some forum boards and learned that deleting the folder was not an option because even at the stage at which the install failed, it had already messed with my Registry files.
One week and six emails to Acronis later and I still have this toxic mess on my computer and no way to get rid of it. I have not received so much as an autoresponder acknowledgment from Acronis. From this day forward, I will NEVER install a program until I know for certain that there is an uninstall utility included with it. Acronis has no uninstall, and according to the forum posts I've been reading, there are some intensely complex procedures one can use to uninstall most of the damage, but even with them, you can't be sure.
Way to go, Acronis.
BTW, I downloaded the free, well-reviewed Macrium Reflect and it works perfectly. A few simple clicks on the clean and intuitive interface and I had the full HD image that I was after in the first place. Too bad that image also contains the Acronis damage. I can only hope there will be no conflicts between Macrium and the Acronis that is still on my computer. So far, so good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does everything I want in a backup Comment: I switched to Acronis True Image Home 2010 because the backup software I had been using (Norton Backup & Restore 2.0) doesn't work under Windows 7. Acronis will do incremental and differential backups, and it sends me an email with the results of my nightly backups, which makes it easy to monitor. Restores are easy, through an Explorer-like interface. It does exactly what I want from backup software.
Customer Rating: Summary: DON'T BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comment: I was looking for a simple program to image my hard drive. I did a bit of research and an earlier version of Acronis was someones top pick over Norton ghost and freeware. Then I heard that only Acronis True Image Home 2010 was Windows 7 certified. I read the reviews on Amazon but I figured these people must all be lame-o's. I'm a Professional Engineer so I can figure this out. After all I just want a simple image backup , I don't need all the bells and whistles .
Yah right! Well all you negative reviewers were right and I was wrong!
Acronis True Image Home 2010 is the biggest piece of crap software I have ever tried in my life. It did NOTHING but freeze up my machine (Dell 420 XPS Windows 7). I even downloaded the latest 11/3/09 update (version 6029) but nothing worked , I do mean NOTHING. I could not even get the most basic backup working without freezing my machine. Each time I had to do a hard reboot to get the computer back up and running.
My configuration is standard stuff. I am running a standard Dell desktop and recently upgraded from VISTA to Windows 7. I worked on this all day today (about 6 hours) going through every option without any success. Just kept freezing my machine. I finally gave up and did a roll back to get rid of this offensive software. Acronis True Image Home 2010 truly deserves a negative star.
I am going to try and return this open software. I'm ready to fight with the Manager over this one. Otherwise i may contact consumer affairs .
BOTTOM LINE SAVE YOUR $40 (AND YOUR TIME!!) AND DO NOT BUY ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE HOME 2010.
REMEMBER YOU WERE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Customer Rating: Summary: What Happen to Acronis? Comment: I used TI 2009 under Vista x64 and it worked well. Now, I have migrated to Windows 7 and neither TI 2009 or my upgrade to TI 2010 work. I basically handed Acronis $30.00 and got nothing for it. If you have any doubt, go to the Acronis Forum under support. It is not just a few, loud people. It is long time users that have tried extreme work arounds to get the product working with no success. As of right now, build 6029 is junk and does not work in Windows 7.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best for the money! Comment: If your looking to back-up your computer or just a few files, the software required does't get any better than this. I've used
Acronis for several years and it has never failed to do what i need of it.
