Editorial Reviews:

Pair these bottoms with rain pants to stay dry, warm and moving forward while tramping the rainforests of New Zealand. The most versatile and fastest-wicking of our performance baselayers, Capilene 3 fabric provides excellent insulation and ultimate comfort next to the skin. Its dense interior honeycomb-grid is brushed for warmth, softness and compressibility. With a smooth jersey exterior that glides readily beneath layers, an elastic waistband and flat-seam construction that eliminates chafe, and a gusseted crotch. Made from 4.8-oz polyester (64 recycled) with Gladiodor natural odor control. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Summary: Great sled but...
Comment: I loved this sled: the craftsmanship and the quality were amazing. My 18 months son loved it as well and was very comfortable in it. However, I had to return the item because it was too heavy to use (we live in the condominium and I had to carry it from the apartment, down to the street level every time and then around the neighborhood if we wanted to cross the street during the walk). I wish the sled was much lighter! I would definitely have kept it!

Summary: Love it
Comment: I found someone on Craigslist that had one of these and got it for a good price. It is very well made and slides easily over the snow. My 22 month old daughter enjoys it a lot. It's great on a flat surface but can tip over on an uneven one. I love it.

Summary: This is such a wonderful sled!!!!
Comment: Looking for some good exercise with a toddler, I decided that a walk, snowshoe, or cross-country ski would be great with a sled like this!

Boy was I right! This sled is so smooth over the snow, both packed and powder. Getting back from our 1 mile journey, my 20 month old said, "again!".

I really can't believe what a great sled this is. We are definately going to buy more Mountain Boy sleds in the future!

Summary: Beautiful, Functional and Happy-Making
Comment: I purchased this for my infant son to "give" to his father for Christmas, and it was a big hit (for both.) Our baby loved being pulled about the yard in it, and the sled was remarkably steady even in about a foot of snow. We used the JJ Cole Bundle-Me (see "customer images") to help keep our son warm as well as more securely affixed to the sled. (Whereas the sled does advertise itself as being safe for babies six months and older, there is no harness to keep the child on the pull sled. We discovered that we really did not need a harness, but that on occasion when the sled was pulled around corners it would tip slightly in the deep snow, and the Bundle Me kept our baby safely on the sled.)

I found the sled to be a quality product, and likely to be a favorite for years (it seats kids up to the age of four) and then a wonderful heirloom or hand-me-down. In an age where Americans are often afraid of purchasing Chinese-made products, I have to say I was very impressed by the craftsmanship. The wood is gorgeously finished, the rope soft and sturdy and the various parts sturdy and well-made.

I was also very excited to find a surprise Christmas tree ornament in the box: a tiny sled of excellent craftsmanship which is now a wonderful reminder of our son's first sled and his first Christmas. I'm not sure if the ornament is only in the package seasonally, but it was a happy and welcome discovery.

Given our first experience with Mountain Boy sleds, we definitely plan to purchase other sleds from the company as our son gets bigger and moves to sliding down hills. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Summary: Perfect sled to get little kids out in the snow
Comment: My husband and I rented one of these for a trip last year to Sun Valley, Idaho. We took our niece and nephew, ages 2 and 3, and they loved it! One day we used it to get them back up the sled hill, two days we used it to explore the area. It's easy to pull so the grown-ups don't get too tired. We used it on both fresh powder and somewhat icy granular snow, and it was fine on both. Well made, very sturdy, and beautiful to look at when it's not in use.
